IPCC Special Report on Climate Change & Land

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Climate Change and Land found that consumption of food, feed, fibre, timber and energy have caused unprecedented rates of land and freshwater use, with soil erosion from agriculture up to 100 times higher than the soil formation rate, increasing net GHG emissions and loss of natural ecosystems and biodiversity. By 2015, about 500 million people lived within areas experiencing desertification since 1980. About two billion adults are now overweight or obese, with an estimated 821 million people undernourished. Related Planetary Health information here.
